Question 1: In a child with epilepsy, does melatonin affect the seizure threshold?

In a school-age child with epilepsy (patient), does melatonin (intervention) affect the seizure threshold (outcome)? Search terms: ‘epilepsy’, ‘melatonin’, Primary search, Embase, Medline, Secondary search, The Cochrane library. The Cochrane library revealed one relevant article.1 For Embase and Medline, under resources and NHS evidence healthcare databases’ advance search was carried out. First the Embase was searched by using the word ‘Epilepsy’ and ‘epileps*’. The word epileps*, was exploded. Both the words were searched in title and abstract. The words were combined with ‘or’. Same process was repeated for ‘Melatonin’ and ‘melatonin*’. The numbers 3 and 6 were combined by ‘and’. Similar search was carried out in Medline from 1950 till date.
