Peptides are omnipresent in nature and indispensable for life activities. Inspired by nature, human body regulates peptide molecular structure and uses peptide self-assembly to achieve various applications, which rely on the synthesis of peptide molecular compounds. This chapter introduces the basic properties and secondary structure of peptides, with a focus on the synthesis methods of peptides, including chemical synthesis and biosynthesis. The technique feature and latest development of each method are summarized in detail. This chapter provides useful assistance for understanding the basic structure and properties of peptides as well as insights into designing new peptide molecules.
