Study on the Introduction of"Naidong"Camellia (Camellia japonica L.)

Naidong camellia is a geographic population of Camellia japonica L. distributed in Qingdao area of Shandong province. Among all camellias in China,Naidong camellia is the northernmost distributed camellia. In order to enrich the landscape color and improve the enviromental quality,Naidong camellia was introduced from Qindao area to Beijing and Tianjin areas. The major research conclusions are summarized as follows: Naidong camellia cultivated in windbreak and shadow condition grow normally. As a result,the adaptability of Naidong camellia was evaluated to be the second degree,which means they could be adapted to Beijing and Tianjin areas. It is aslo observed that the drought soil,cold and dry wind and sunburning in winter and spring are the major factors affecting introduction of camellia.
