Objective To investigate the antioxidant effect of polysaccharide from Rosa roxburghii(RRTP) in aged mice. Method Aged mice caused by D-galactose were perfused with 100,200 and 400 mg/kg.d RRTP for 47 d,the effect of RRTP on the content of superoxide dismutase(SOD) ,malondialdehyde(MDA) ,catalase(CAT) in plasma, liver and brain were observed. Results The activities of SOD and CAT in plasma, liver and brain in aged mice were lower and the content of MDA was higher than those in the control. while in the aged mice treated with RRTP 200 and 400 mg/kg.d,the activity of SOD and CAT were significantly increased and the content of MDA decreased. Conclusion RRTP has antioxidant effect in aged mice and showed dose-and-effect relationship.
