Optimization of electroless silver plating process on carbon fiber fabric

To prepare a new passive jamming materia1, Ag coating was deposited on the surface of carbon fiber fabric by electroless plating process. The effects of formula components and process parameters such as plating temperature and plating time on mass-gain rate of Ag deposited carbon fiber fabric were analyzed. The relationship between plating time and electrical conductivity of Ag coated carbon fiber fabric was also studied. The optimal electroless Ag plating process for carbon fiber fabric was obtained as follows:10.5 g/L AgNO3, 100 mL/L NH3·H2O, 10 g/L NaOH, 22.5 g/L C6H12O6, 50 mL/L C2H5OH, plating temperature of 20 °C and time of 10 min. The electroless Ag deposit obtained is uniform, and has bright luster, strong adhesion and good electrical conductivity.
