摘要
The venturi loop reactor is ideally suited for fast reactions involving a pure expensive gas-phase reactant and with simultaneous requirements of relatively high reaction pressure and heat removal. This chapter provides a brief overview of the areas of application and advantages of the venturi loop reactor. The venturi loop reactor belongs to the type in which the solid catalyst is suspended in a gas–liquid dispersion. Its most common application is in the case of a dead-end system using an expensive pure gas. The chapter discusses the advantages of the venturi loop reactor. The venturi loop reactor can be readily adapted to multipurpose, campaign- based manufacture of high-value chemicals. The chapter talks about the holding vessel that acts as a bubble column that has a central core consisting of two-phase cocurrent downflow. Worked examples for design of a venturi loop reactor are provided here.
