Summary A combined method is proposed for automatic detection and time-picking of microseismic events. This method is comprised by a multi-channel semblance coefficient based detector for identifying microseismic events and a new picker for determinating the P and S phase arrival times. The performance of this method is examined and evaluated on both synthetic and real datasets.
