The researcher has a higher curiousity to analyze and show readers about paranoia as portrayed by murderer. The aims of this research are: 1) to identify paranoia, 2) to describe cause of paranoia, 3) to find out effects of paranoia as portrayed by murderer in the tell- tale heart short story written by Edgar Allan Poe.
This research is classified as a descriptive research design by gathering and analyzing authentic data and related theories. The object of this research is the tell-tale heart short story. This research used objective approach that helps researcher to interpret and understand point of entirely text which is about paranoia as portrayed by murderer.
The result of this research showed that 1) paranoia that happened to murderer is triggered by hypersensitivity where senses sharpened especially in hearing, 2) cause of paranoia that was faced by murderer is indicated by fear of old man's vulture-eye, 3) effects of paranoia toward murderer are revealed into two: firsly, murderer takes a life of old man, secondly, murderer gets a terror.
