This chapter is divided into five sections. First, the authors look at the research evidence focusing on expert gaze performance during anticipation in interceptive tasks such as tennis, badminton, and baseball. The second section focuses on expert gaze behaviors in team sports such as basketball and soccer. The focus in these sections is on gaze behavior differences between expert, less expert, and novice performers. In the third section, the authors discuss moderating factors that can impact gaze behaviors in sport, including anxiety and fatigue. In the fourth section, the authors consider the importance of gaze behavior for performance enhancement. Specifically, they discuss whether gaze behaviors may be modeled and trained. The final section that concludes the chapter provides conclusions and offers suggestions for future research.
