THE SYNTHESIS OF SOLID SUPER ACIDS AND THE ACTIVITY FOR THE REACTIONS OF BUTANE AND ISOBUTANE

Abstract Solid super acids such as SbF5–TiO2–SiO2, SbF5–TiO2, and SbF5–SiO2–Al2O3 were synthesized, whose acid strengths were in the range of −13.16≥H0>−14.52. A SbF5–TiO2–SiO2 showed the highest activity for the reaction of butane at room temperature. A SbF5–TiO2 was highly selective for the skeletal isomerization of butane, where 72 % of the products was isobutane.
