The Use of Rosin and Activated Rosin Fluxes

Considerable information has been published over the past twenty-five years on the subject of fluxes for use in electronic manufacturing—much of it very general, much of it dealing with broad principles, and some of it based on conjecture and incomplete or faulty experimental evidence. The purpose of this paper is to review briefly the history of rosin base fluxes and to point up the need for a better understanding of the types available and their advantages and disadvantages.
