摘要
High performance electric machines empower the electrification of automotive, aerospace and other industries. Extreme values of power density and efficiency are required in these electric machines. An accurate estimation of core loss in the design stage facilitates the appropriate sizing of the electric machine and its associated cooling system. Based on this, an advancement is proposed to the conventional improved generalized Steinmetz equation (iGSE) by incorporating a modification in the method of curve fit used to obtain the Steinmetz parameters. Consequently, iGSE using modified curve fit (iGSEMCF) is discussed to show the significance of Steinmetz parameters in the estimation of core loss using iGSE. Multiple waveform with different harmonic content are analysed to understand the performance of iGSEMCF method. Iron loss is estimated with a maximum error of 42% and 10.7% with iGSE and iGSEMCF, respectively.
