Conjugated Porphyrin Polymers: Control of Chromophore Separation by Oligophenylenevinylene Bridges

A series of new porphyrin polymers in which the porphyrin units are linked by a variety of controllable oligophenylenevinylene bridges has been synthesized. The new materials are soluble and thermally stable with strong fluorescence properties that suggest limited electronic communication between the chromophore and conjugated bridge in solution.
