Objective To explore the association of hyperuricemia with blood pressure and blood levels of lipids and sugar in the individuals on regular physical examination. Methods The hyperuricemia group included 1129 male and 165 female individual with hyperuricemia comfirmed in a regular physical examination for civil servants in 2008. The control group had the matched sex, age, and profession. The effects of hyperuricemia on blood pressure, lipids, and sugar were determined. Results The average levels of systolic and diastolic pressures, TG, HDL-C, and fasting blood sugar were markedly higher in the hyperuricemia group than in the control group; the rates of hypertension, abnormal lipid levels, and impaired fasting sugar were higher in the hyperuricemia group. Conclusions Hyperuricemia is closely associated with blood pressure and levels of blood lipids and sugar. Health education on hyperuricemia should be strengthened to prevent the occurrence of the disorder earlier.
