摘要
All-Solid-State Batteries promise a higher energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. However, in current state-of-the-art pouch cell designs high operation pressure is required. This is provided by external compression systems, e.g. springs, decreasing energy density at the battery pack module level. Therefore, “outside-the-box” cell housing designs, such as rigid cylindrical cans, to withstand the required operation pressure while enhancing energy density at the module level, are investigated in this study. We examine the effects of fabrication pressure parameters on the production of windable solid composite electrodes and solid electrolyte separators. Different fabrication pressures are applied to laminate solid composite electrodes and solid electrolyte separator. By mechanical bent tests the influence of the different fabrication pressures on the solid composite electrode-solid electrolyte separator-laminate (SCE-SES-laminate) mechanical stability is evaluated. Additionally constant-current constant-voltage cycling gives insights into the influence of bending SCE-SES laminate. The discharge capacity of bent and flat full cells is compared revealing similar cycling stability at an operational pressure of 20 MPa. Slightly lower overpotential in bent full cell can be attributed to differences in the operational pressure distribution. We demonstrate the beneficial effect of a specific fabrication pressure on the windability of the SCE-SES laminate. Finally, we investigate the influence of solid-composite-electrodes volume expansion on the design of rigid cylindrical can. Figure 1
