Fish oil supplementation: evidence for health benefits.

Many health claims for fish oil (which contains omega-3 fatty acids) in conditions from Alzheimer disease to Zellweger syndrome are based on indirect evidence. But the evidence is direct for a benefit in coronary heart disease prevention, and the American Heart Association recently issued guidelines for the intake of omega-3 oils.
