Research advancements of modification ofγ-polyglutamic acid and their highly added value applications

γ-Polyglutamic acid(γ-PGA) is a amino-acid polymer containing D-and L-glutamic acid units. This polymer is water soluble,biodegradable,edible,biocompatible,non-toxic and safety.γ-PGA contains hydroxyl group and amino group in its unit structure,and a special kind of polar polymer could be obtained by introduction of same group.In this paper,several methods commonly used forγ-polyglutamic acid modification and their highly added value applications of modifiedγ-polyglutamic acid in biomedicine were summarized at present.
