Objective To compare the clinical efficacies and safety of lisinopril and captopril. Methods Lisinopril group of 31 patients (M 27, F 4; age 68±6a) received lisinopril 10-30mg, po, qd for 4wk. The controll group of 28 patients (M 25, F 3; age 67±7a ) received captopril 12.5-25mg, po, bid or tid for 4 wk. Results The total response rates of lisinopril group and captopril group were 93.6%and 89.3%(P0.05). There were no significant differences(P0.05) between 2 groups in the hypotensive effect. The side effects of 2 groups were mild. Conclusion Lisinopril is effective and safe in treating primary hypertension in aged patients. The side effect of lisinopril is mild.
