Objective To evaluate the effects of magnetic appliances on the treatment of the growth spurt skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion. Methods A new type of magnetic appliance was used on 15 subjects with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion. Results The Class Ⅲ dentofacial profile significantly improved and Class Ⅲ molar relationship was corrected in most cases. Conclusion The magnetic appliance could be used as an effective orthopedic approach in treating Class Ⅲ malocclusion with such advantages, as force predication, well-controlled anchorage, small and comfortable design of appliance and good cooperation with patients.
