摘要
Light-driven processes based on sustainable materials originating from different biomass such as citric acid in lemon, alginate in seaweed, or lac dye in Kerria lacca have received increased attention for the generation of carbon nanodots (CDs). This enables initiation of radical photopolymerization with visible light. CDs can also be employed to generate tailor-made polymeric materials by sensitization of copper(II)-catalyzed ATRP, resulting in small dispersities following classical ATRP and CuACC click chemistry, as reported by Zhijun Chen, Bernd Strehmel, and co-workers in their Research Article on page 10983.
