Tuning the local coordination environment of Fe–N–C catalysts via sulfur doping for enhanced oxygen reduction

A one-step synthesis of Fe(SCN) x @PPy yielding atomically dispersed Fe in N,S co-doped carbon is demonstrated. S-induced modulation of the Fe–N 4 coordination environment enhances the ORR activity of Fe–N–C/S in both alkaline and acidic media.
