Evaluation of Arterial Embolisation for Trauma Patients with Pelvic Fracture: New Insights from the Land of the Rising Sun

In their retrospective, nationwide propensity score matched study assessing 17 670 patients, Furugori et al. evaluated the impact of arterial embolisation (AE) of the iliac arteries or contributing arteries in patients suffering from traumatic pelvic fracture on the in hospital mortality rate as well as short term survival.1 Patient data from 2014 - 2018 collected in the Japan Trauma Data Bank were used to realise this methodologically robust research project, focusing on a few, yet relevant clinical endpoints.
