Objective To explore the efficacy of microsurgery assisted with neuronavigation in the resection of deep supratentorial lesions. Methods The patients with deep supratentorial lesion undergoing microsurgery assisted with neuronavigation from January 2010 to December 2011 were retrospectively analyzed, including clinical data and the extent of resection of the lesion during intraoperatively monitoring. Results Combined with accurate positioning of intraoperative neuronavigation, all patients received a gross total resection of the lesion, and have little morbidity. Conclusions Microsurgery assisted with intraoperative neuronavigation can make the deep supratentorial lesions get an accurate positioning, monitor the extent of resection of the lesion with protecting the adjacent important nerves and functional areas, and reduce postoperative mortality and recurrence rate.
