Isolation of a Strain of BVDV from Livers of an Aborted Fetus of Sika Deer

An unknown virus was isolated from livers of an aborted fetus using MDBK cell lines, and it was identified.The results showed that the virus could multiply on the MDBK cells and induce regular cytopathic effect (CPE). Physicochemical quality of this virus was the same as BVDV. The CPE of this virus disappeared when the bovine positive serum was added. Observed by negative staining electron microscope, the virus could be seen with typical MDV virions. The target fragments of 402 bp (NS(2-3)) and 700 bp (E0) were respectively amplified from the passages of the F1 culture of this isolated virus. It can be concluded that this virus is a new strain of BVDV, named CCSYD.
