Refractive cataract surgery has become increasingly common because it is safe and improves postoperative visual quality. It also promotes cataract treatment in clinical practice and academic settings. However, refractive cataract surgery still faces many challenges, including the objective evaluation of preoperative visual quality, improving accuracy and repeatability of intraoperative capsulorhexis, achieving a full range of postoperative vision, optimization of the intraocular lens, etc. We should fully recognize the challenges and seize the opportunity to conduct rigorous clinical research and extensive academic exchanges. In doing so, we can develop standardized practice patterns for refractive cataract surgery and further enhance the clinical and academic levels of achievement to benefit the majority of Chinese patients.
