A new species of Sorbus (Rosaceae) from western Yunnan, China

A new species of Rosaceae, Sorbus fruticula, is described and illustrated from western Yunnan, China. Morphologically, it closely resembles Sorbus poteriifolia, but differs in several key traits: it reaches a height of up to 1 m, forms a non-rhizomatous shrub, has pink coloration in the distal half of its petals, and possesses glabrous styles. The new species is assessed to be Endangered (EN) according to IUCN red list categories and criteria.
