To the Editor: Large language models (LLMs) are programs that are trained on datasets with supervised or unsupervised learning to create artificial neural networks that process data inputs. ChatGPT is an example of an LLM that utilizes natural language processing and provides human-like responses to text-based prompts. With increased accessibility of medical records, patients have sought to better understand their conditions using online resources, including ChatGPT.1 Furthermore, providers without formal dermatologic training could use ChatGPT in clinical decision making.
