A kind of novel hard-to-hydrolyze organosilicone monomer γ-[tris(trimethyloxysiloxy)]propyl methacrylate was synthesized by substitution reaction between γ-(methacryloxypropyl)- trimethloxy silane and chlorotrimethylsilane.As-obtained organosilicone monomer and acrylate monomer were adopted as the starting materials to synthesize silicone acrylate copolymer emulsion with high silicon content via seed emulsion polymerization route. The structure of as-obtained organosilicone monomer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, while the contact angle, thermal decomposition rate, and tensile strength of the silicone acrylate copolymer emulsion and the latex film were determined. Results indicated that the latex film of the silicone acrylate copolymer exhibited much better water resistance, thermal stability and mechanical properties than the acrylate latex film.
