Study on the Reversible Pump-turbine Closing Law in Pumped Storage Plant

The broken-line closing law of reversible pump-turbine usually used in pumped storage plants is analyzed and discussed. Based on complete hydraulic characteristic of reversible pump-turbine, the broken-line closing law of three segments with delayed segment is designed. Water hammer pressure in pumped storage plant conveyance system caused by the closure of wicket gate and turbine rotation speed rise together is effectively decreased in the meaning time the total closure time is reduced. The wicket gate closing law of reversible pump-turbine with the rotation speed feedback signal is introduced also, a new idea for the design of the reversible pump-turbine sudden closing law is proposed.
