The Progress of Study in Homocysteine and Neointimal Hyperplasia After Angioplasty

Homocysteine(HCy),a sulphur-containing non-esse nt ial amino acid,has been confirmed that there is a important role in the pathophy siology of atherosclerosis.Recently,the non-essential amino acid has been found that there is a role on the neointima hyperplasia angioplasty restenosis.Hyperh omocysteine is able to inhibit the proliferation of the endothelial cell at the same time as stimiulating the vascular smooth muscle cells proliferation and mig ration,this may be mechanism of neointimal hyperplasia induced by homocysteine a fter angioplasty.
