The nanocrystalline TiO2 film, which is even, transparent and porous, was prepared through titanium butyrate thermal decomposition methods on the surface of ceramics and glasses. The photocatalytic mechanism, reactive oxygen species' forming mechanism, and TiO2 particle's bactericidal mechanism of this nanocrystalline film were investigated. The bactericidal capability of the film was examined with the methods of GB15979-2002. The results showed that the film has the wide sterilizing range, high sterilizing speed and sterilizing efficiency. Its antibacterial rates to Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli, and Candida Albicans in 30 min are excess of 92%. This kind of film can be directly applied on bactericidal ceramics.
