Study on Main Nutrients in Iron Dioscorea opposita Thunb.

The main chemical composition of Iron Dioscorea opposita Thunb,was determined and compared with common Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Results showed that the solids content of fresh Iron Dioscorea opposita T.was 28.67%,far higher than the content of 13.86% of common Dioscorea opposita T.The content of total nitrogen,total ash,starch and glycosaminoglycan was 0.616%,2.03%,15.29% and 1.59% respectively,which were higher than that of common Dioscorea opposita T.,which was 0.154%,1.36%,6.57% and 1.47% respectively.The nutrient value of iron Dioscorea opposita T.is much higher than common Dioscorea opposita T.,which is worth of further reseach and developement.
