Discussion on layout of adding bulkhead gates on flood discharge structure and case study

In the reinforcement of the dangerous reservoirs,the bulkhead gates at the inlet of flood discharge structure were needed.The design of the added bulkhead gates requires us to select the reasonable layout,appropriate gate forms and hoisting devices.On the premise of the safety of original hydraulic structures,the function of added bulkhead gates should be ensured.According to engineering practices,we summarize several issues to consider when adding bulkhead gates in spillway,spillway tunnel,and middle-level and bottom outlets of dam.The design of adding bulkhead gates is discussed in three specific projects as examples.These summaries of experiences have a high reference value on the design of similar projects.
