Stomatal density and stomatal index on cotyledon adaxial and abaxial surface of 3 maturation varieties of Brassica Juncea were studied. The result showed that the epidermal cells of both cotyledon epidermises were irregular with repand anticlinal walls, the anticlinal walls were repand or sinuous. The stomata were anomocytic on the cotyledon epidermis.Stotamal density of both epidermises decreased with the development of cotyledon.Stotamal density on both adaxial and abaxial surface of early-maturation was significantly more than that of mid-maturation and late-maturation.Stotamal index on adaxial surface of early-maturation was significantly more than that of mid-maturation and late-maturation.Therefore,stotamal density on both cotyledon epidermis and stotamal index on cotyledon adaxial surface could be used as an index for identifying the mutirity of Brassica Juncea.
