摘要
Metal-organic framework nanoparticles are currently playing an important role in diverse biomedical applications and it is majorly due to their special structure and combinations of metal ions synergistically connected to organic ligands. This quite complex structure gives the MOFs extended active surface area with high porosity as well as high thermal stability which can introduce them as a capable substance for employ in various biomedical purposes. UiO-66 as a rather ubiquitous MOF has consisted of zirconium ions which are surrounded by bonded terephthalic ligands, these components, and structures made an active, spacious surface area with biodegradability which alongside its low cytotoxicity, UiO-66 can be a potential nanoparticle for drug delivery purposes and also because of its optical surface area, it is recently employing for variety of biomedical imaging applications. This article provides a thorough review of fabrication techniques of UiO-66, novel diagnostics procedures, biomedical imaging applications, and employing UiO-66 as a therapeutic reagent as well as examining its toxicity status.
