Relationships of niridazole metabolism to antiparasitic efficacy and host toxicity

The differential toxicity of certain antiparasitic drugs in parasite and host may have a metabolic basis. The metabolism of such compounds relates not only to their modes of antiparasitic action but also their side effects in the host. Knowledge of antiparasitic drug metabolism may also lead to the development of appropriate biochemical screens for antiparasitic efficacy and/or to the design of improved therapeutic agents.
