This chapter, Layered Superconducting Materials, presents a rather historical development of the discovery, syntheses, transition temperatures, and phase diagrams of many different types of layered superconductors. It provides the crystal structures of all classes of layered superconductors, beginning with the graphite intercalation compounds, the polytypes of the transition metal dichalcogenides, the intercalation of the transition metal dichalcogenides with organic molecules and with inorganic elements, the various types of organic layered superconductors, the various classes of artificial superconducting superlattices or multilayers, the hole- and electron-doped cuprates, strontium ruthenate, magnesium diboride, other layered superconductors with the AlB2 structure, Ag5Pb2O6, the sodium colbaltate hydrates, intermetallics with the ThCr2Si2 structure, including the large class of borocarbides, the iron pnictides and iron oxypnictides, iron chalcogenides, La3Ni2B2N3, and the intercalates of β-ZrNCl and β-HfNCl.
