This paper presents the resistance and propulsive characteristics of the twin-skeg form for a shallow draught passenger ship. Model tests were carried out in shallow water conditions of h/T = 2, 3 and 5 and in the deep water condition. Compared with a conventional stern tunnel form, the new hull form can decrease the residual resistance coefficient by 29.2% and increase the hull efficiency by 10.7% (for outward turning propellers) and by 16.5% (for inward turning propellers). The propulsive power required can be decreased by 24.2% at the design speed of 22km/h.
