This article is to introduce the 2003 International Association of Nephrology(ISN)and renal pathology Society(RPS)pathological classification of lupus glomerulonephritis.A brief review of the clinical and a variety of pathological features of lupus nephritis(LN).The ISN / RPS2003 classification of lupus glomerulonephritis includes multiple changes compared with its predecessors, mainly removal of the subclasses of lupus glomerulonephritis type Ⅴ,no longer be completely normal kidney included in the type Ⅰ,more explicit and detailed the various sub-types definition.Class Ⅳ LN was further subdivided with predominantly glomerulonephritis segmental lesion. This classification will facilitate a higher degree of reproducibility.ISN/RPS on the classification of lupus glomerulonephritis has been widely accepted and achieved the goal related to the correlation of pathology changes and clinical features, which plays an important role in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
