Copolymerization of N-P-Methylphenyl Maleimide with Styrene

The activity of copolymerization system of N-p-methylphenyl maleimide with styrene was systematically studied. Ethanol was used as solvent, and the optimum polymerization condition was found of initiator concentration , monomor concentration, polymerization time , polymerization temperature and initiator type. By GPC analysis, the molecular weight of the copolymer was testified. The results of Infra-red and Nuclear Magnetic Resonant analysis showed that the double bond of N-p-methylphenyl maleimide was split when it was polymerized with styrene, and the copolymerization was alternately carried out.
