Aseptic packaging involves shielding a commercially sterile product with a disinfected package under sterilized conditions and hermetically closing the packages so that reinfection is prevented. It preserves the overall quality of food, preventing all forms of spoilage. Aseptic packaging technology is fairly diverse in contrast with the processing of conventional food done by other thermal processes that include canning, etc. It is a simple process including operations like sterilization at temperatures of approximately 140–150°C and airtight packing. The shelf life of aseptic food products under non-refrigerated conditions may vary from months to even years. Although the process is simple and retains the quality of the food items, it also demands great precision in dealing with the sterilization and packing procedures. Aseptic packaging and products have become very important. They are trending in the market as a result of the immensely satisfying quality of the products. Due to the processing and materials used in aseptic packaging, the cost of production rises, making aseptic packing expensive.
