American Cancer Society predicts new cancer cases and cancer deaths. There will be 1,735,350 new cancer cases and 609,640 cancer deaths in the United States in 2018, according to estimates from the American Cancer Society. These new cases represent 4,700 new diagnoses daily. Prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers are the most common causes of cancer deaths in men and will account for 42% of all cases. Breast, lung, and colorectal cancers are the most common causes of cancer deaths in women and will account for half of new cases; breast cancer alone accounts for 30%. The previous rapid rise in melanoma is slowing in younger people. Blacks and American Indian/Alaska Natives are more likely than whites to be diagnosed at a later stage and less likely to survive their cancers.
