Abstract One of the most common fluorochromes used in immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry is fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), which produces a fluorescent apple‐green colour on exposure to ultraviolet light. Antibodies can be labelled with FITC via lysine residues.
