Objective:To investigate the hypotensive effect and tolerability of Carvedilol. Method:Sixty eight patients were selected. In which, 30 cases were randomised to receive Carvedilol (n=15, 10~30 mg/d), or Labalol (n=15 100~300 mg/d) and remaining 38 cases received Carvedilol (10~40 mg/d). The study continued for 10 week.Result:The DBP significantly decreased from 2nd week to 10 week after Carvedilol treatment compared with pretreatment and Carvedilol was obviously better than Labalol. A lower incidence of adverse effects was observed. Conclusion:Carvedilol is a safe and effective antihypertension agent in essential hypertension.
