From July 2003 to June 2005,ovarian tissues of sexually matured Sinilabeo rendahli were gathered from Jailing River. The dynamics of oocyte development and related sequential cytological events were studied. The characteristics of the oogonium and the oocyte during the first meiotic prophase were described by histology technic. The present study indicates that oogenesis in Sinilabeo rendahli can be defined 5 oocyte stages of ovarian development(i.e.,oogounium stage, nucleic acid accumulating oocyte stage, cortical alveoli oocyte stage, yolk vesicle oocyte stage, full yolk granules stage, mature ovum stage and degeneration stage). The important characteristic of oocyte development in Sinilabeo rendahli is much chromatin assembling at the inner nuclear membrane in early nucleic acid accumulating oocyte stage.
