Nearsightedness, myopia and pathological myopia

Nearsightedness is a ubiquitous phenomenon,which is not understood completely to date.In order to understand the essence of the targeted problem,the authors definedmyopiosis,myopiaandpathological myopiaaccording to the clinical epidemiology and medical terminology principles,combined with personal experience and understanding to the complex phenomenon of myopia,visual acuity and refraction.We tried to emphasize the importance of technical terms in the definition,standardized examination and diagnosis of the disease.This article has no intention to change long-established terminology.We think it is necessary to make an accurate choice of terms when discussion involved with basic concepts.
