Objective To observe the effects of contrasting factors on the ability of children to identify the details of objects, and to know the sitution of children's contrasting eyesight. Methods Fifty-three children with normal visual acuity5.0 of their contrast visual acuity were measured in the position of 92%,52% and 30% contrast horizontal point by contrast visual acuity chart. Results The visual acuity of this group of children had an obvious reduction with the decrease of the contrast level; the visual acuity was closely related to contrast level; there was neither distinctive difference between left and right eyes of their contrast visual acuity; nor between male and female. Conclusion The low contrast study environment increases the children's visual burden, and attention should be paid to this in the course of preventing and curing the myopia of students.
