Objective To analyze the efficacy of current clinical practice of sequential treatment of fluoroquinolones on elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia(CAP).Methods The 130 patients from with CAP ≥65years were divided into moxifloxacin group and levofloxacin group, which were treated with moxifloxacin injection 400mg/d or levofloxacin 500mg/d followed by according pills if their symptoms improved after 2days,respectively.The total course was 7-14 days. The clinical and bacteriological results were observed and drug safety was assessed. Results The total course of treatment of moxifloxacin group was shorter than that of levofloxacin group.Moxifloxacin group cure rate and effective rate were higher than that of sequential treatment group. But both the risk of adverse reactions was equal. Conclusion Sequential treatment with moxifloxacin is better than sequential treatment with levofloxacin. But levofloxacin is cheaper than moxifloxacin.
