The complexing agent 4\|(2\|pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) and its color reaction with palladium were studied. Palladium reacted with PAR to form a brown\|green complex in sulfuric acid. The maximum absorption of complex was at 595nm, and apparent molar absorption coefficient was 8.24×103 L/mol.cm. Beer's law was obeyed for palladium in the range of 5 to 100 μg/10 ml. The interferences of various ions were also studied. The method was used for the determination of palladium\|nickel and palladium\|cobalt plating bath with satisfactory results.
