Distribution Regularities of TCM Constitution of Elderly Patients with Hypertension in the Community for 200 Cases

Objective To identify TCM constitution of patients suffering from hypertension came to our hospital for physical tests, and to analyze the distribution regularities of Chinese medicine TCM constitution, which would be served as a basis for TCM intervention plans.Methods We made questionnaires according to TCM constitution scale and criteria for categorizing and determining the Chinese medicine constitution of people. During research, we issued 200 questionnaires, and all of them were returned. With findings of the 200 question-naires and four ways of diagnosis of TCM, which were looking, listening, questioning and feeling the pulse, we draw our own conclusion.Results Among all the hypertension, 149 cases were biased constitution which accounted for 74.5 %, and gentleness constitution accounted for 25.5 %. In the biased constitution, constitution of phlegm-dampness was the most( 30 %), followed by the yang deficiency(16.5%), yin deficiency(13.0 %), qi deficiency(6.0 %), qi Stagnation(3.5 %), blood stasis(2.5 %), special intrinsic quality(1.5 %), dampness heat constitution(1.5 %). Conclusion In patients with hypertension, the number of the phlegm dampness heat are the most, which will be a key factor in the prevention and healthcare of hypertension.
